đź‘‹ Introduce Yourself

Hello and welcome!

We’re glad you’re here.

Take a moment to introduce yourself to the Camera Dates community. We’d love to learn a little about you.

Tell us things like:

:round_pushpin: Where you’re from

:camera: What camera (or phone) you enjoy using

:camera: What you love to photograph

:camera_with_flash: How long you’ve been interested in photography

:bullseye: What you hope to learn or share here

Don’t worry about having the “right” equipment or years of experience. Whether you’re just beginning or have been behind a camera for decades, you’re among friends.

We look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome to Camera Dates!

Hello, my name is Jeryl and I’m really happy to be here. I live in a small shoreline town in southeastern CT with my soulmate, Kevin. I have 3 grown children, Nicole, Jen and David, and 10 grandkids! I’ve been into photography since 2013, have taken too many courses, spent way too much money on lessons (digital or other) and still have no confidence when it comes to shooting. I suffer from perfection syndrome, imposter syndrome, and probably a myriad of other syndromes, lol. These all keep me stuck and therefore, I tend to keep my gear safely inside the dry cabinet where they live. I love light, love how it dances and plays on everything, and I tend to photograph what I love, even if it’s just objects and not people. I enjoy still photography very much, but I master no area over another. Editing is the bane of my existence and it frustrates me to no end. I shoot Canon; EOS RP and 80D. I’m enjoying this site very much so far and am excited to finally get a handle on this beautiful thing called photography…maybe one day I can actually

refer to myself as a photographer.

Welcome, Jeryl! I’m truly glad you found us and decided to introduce yourself.

First, anyone who loves light, notices how it moves across ordinary things, and feels compelled to capture it is already a photographer. You do not have to master every setting, editing technique, or type of photography before you earn that title.

You also sound like exactly the kind of photographer Camera Dates was created for. Not someone who needs another expensive course or another pile of information, but someone who needs permission to take the camera out of the cabinet, experiment, make imperfect photographs, and begin enjoying the process again.

I think you’ll find plenty of people here who understand perfectionism and the feeling of not being “good enough.” Around here, the goal is not perfection. It is progress, curiosity, and learning to shoot what matters to you.

This community is still very new, but it is growing, and I’m working hard to build it into a place worth returning to. I hope you’ll stick with us as more photographers arrive, more conversations begin, and the community takes shape.

We’re very happy to have you here, Jeryl. I’m looking forward to seeing the light, objects, places, and little moments that catch your eye.
